The curls can be quite tight together or spaced further apart and are sometimes also called Fiddleback Maple or Tiger Maple.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCurly Maple works well, though a sharp hand plane will reduce the amount of tearout that occurs.
