When you're looking for piston-fit accuracy, you need a tool that gives you precise inside and outside dimensions. Woodpeckers new BigCal Woodworking Calipers do just that and more. Calipers are often used in metalworking, but most standard calipers max out at just 6" and are graduated to the thousandth of an inch. BigCal combines machinist-level accuracy and furniture-sized scale in a caliper designed for woodworking.

Precision… Inside AND Out

BigCal's jaws align perfectly between the inside and outside references. Now, you can transfer critical dimensions with an exact physical reference. To secure the jaws, we engineered a dual-function nut that applies a rock-solid grip and squares the jaw to the blade. That means no slip and no wiggle when transferring critical dimensions. You can lock the fixed jaw precisely at zero so you can slide the adjustable jaw out of the way and use BigCal as a T-square. And, they mill the tips of the outside jaws exactly 1/8" square, allowing you to register even the smallest slots or grooves.

No more complicated dials or confusing fractions. The scales are engraved in both 1/32" and 1mm graduations. Turn BigCal over and you'll find the scales read from the opposite end. You can use this side to gauge the depth of a mortise or groove. They have made it easy to transfer that dimension using the scribing notch on the end of the blade.

Precision-milled from high-quality stainless steel, BigCal's blade is rigid even with the jaws fully extended. The jaws are milled from solid blocks of aircraft-grade aluminum. Then, finished in that signature Woodpeckers "Red" which will keep your calipers looking flawless for decades.

The BigCal is available in two sizes.
The large caliper lets you measure inside or outside dimensions over 24" (or 610mm). That's 18 inches more than most standard calipers. On the smaller BigCal, you'll get over 12" between the jaws. The jaws on both are 2-1/4" deep for outside measurements and 3/4" for inside measurements. Each BigCal includes a wall-mountable Rack-It so your new tool will always be perched and ready to go to work.
