Poplar Bowl Blank
Available in stock

Straight-grained and approachable on the lathe. Kiln-dried Poplar cuts easily and is well suited for practice pieces, painted finishes, or dyed projects.
Thickness: 2" thick
Size: 6"x 6", 7"x7", or 8"x8"
Available in stock
We will provide you with a high quality Poplar bowl blank in the dimensions of your choice. This blank has already been kiln dried and is ready to be "turned" into your next great project!
We can sometimes accommodate a larger blank than our standard sizes. Please email us for availability and a quote.
Dimensions may vary +/- 1/4" as we often prefer to lightly skip dress the turning blanks to reveal grain & colour. Some blanks may also come with waxed faces and ends.
Colour and Workability
What does Poplar lumber look like? No two boards are ever the same. You'll find anything from a light cream tone, to green or dark purple streaking throughout. Although Poplar is on the softer side, it surprisingly is actually a hardwood! You will enjoy working with Poplar as it's great with hand tools and power tools. It's not the best choice for projects that require durability or strength, but it is a fantastic utility wood. Enjoy working with one of our most popular woods!
Recommended Finish
We recommend using Honey Bee's Natural Wood Cream for a long lasting and food safe finish. Made with only 2 ingredients - pure beeswax and 100% food grade mineral oil - this soft paste is easy to spread and will protect and enhance the natural beauty of your woodturning project.
