Ribbon Striped Sapele thins have a warm reddish-brown colour with a strong, repeating stripe figure produced by its interlocked grain. The ribbon effect is most visible on quartersawn faces.

Sapele is a great alternative for Genuine Mahogany!

Sapele gets used for all types of woodworking including furniture, cabinet making, instrument making, and woodturning. This rot resistant wood is also a great choice for exterior applications. When finishing Sapele, you may want to consider a durable hardwax-oil finish such as Osmo Polyx-Oil. An oil finish would especially accentuate figured Sapele which we are lucky to source on occasion.

In order to offer more protective packing for shipping - our lengths are often 1/4" less than sizes listed. Need a wider width or longer length? Please email us for a quote. Custom millwork charges will apply.
