Appearance
There is a large range of colour to Limba from light yellow to golden brown. In some cases there are grey to black streaks that is referred to as black limba. The lighter colours are sometimes referred to as white limba. As the wood ages, it tends to get darker.
Workability
Working limba with hand tools is a real joy even though there can be small amounts of silica in it which can prematurely dull tools. It takes finish well and has no issues with adhesives.
Uses
Limba is often used in furniture and can be found in veneer form. It is also used in solid-body guitars and turned objects.
Additional Comments
Be aware of the splinters from Limba. If not extracted, they can fester and get infected. Despite the slivers, this is a pleasing wood to work.
