Fine, even texture with subtle warmth. Kiln-dried Birch turns smoothly and produces clean surfaces with consistent stability.
Thickness: 2" thick
Size: 6"x 6", 7"x7", or 8"x8"
We will provide you with a high quality Yellow Birch turning blank in the dimensions of your choice. Our bowl blanks have already been kiln dried and are ready to be "turned" into your next amazing project!
We can sometimes accommodate a larger blank than our standard sizes. Please email us for availability and a quote.
Dimensions may vary +/- 1/4" as we often prefer to lightly skip dress the turning blanks to reveal grain & colour. Some blanks may also come with waxed faces and ends.
Colour and Workability
One of our smoothest hardwoods, Yellow Birch does not boast much definition between the heartwood and sapwood, which are both creamy and light in colour. However, Yellow Birch is known to have a “flame” grain that pops once finished. This hardwood is easy to work with and versatile, making it a good choice for nearly any project!
Recommended Finish
We recommend using Honey Bee's Natural Wood Cream for a long lasting and food safe finish. Made with only 2 ingredients - pure beeswax and 100% food grade mineral oil - this soft paste is easy to spread and will protect and enhance the natural beauty of your woodturning project.
